What to Include in Your Wedding Detail Shots

One of the first things I do when I arrive on your wedding day is photograph your details! These are the small but meaningful items that help tell the story of your day, from your rings to your invitations. To make this process super easy, I always recommend placing all your details in a box ahead of time. That way, when I get there, you can just hand it over, and I can get to work without having to track things down.

"What do I include in my wedding details?"

Some people have a lot of details, some only have a few, some have none at all. Your wedding is your day, so do what feels right for you! These are just some ideas!

Bride’s Details:

  • Wedding dress (on a nice hanger!)
  • Veil or hairpiece
  • Shoes
  • Jewelry (earrings, necklace, bracelet, etc.)
  • Rings (engagement ring and wedding band)
  • Perfume bottle
  • Invitation suite (with envelopes, wax seals, or stamps if included)
  • Vow book
  • Handwritten letters or notes
  • Bouquet
  • Any sentimental items (heirloom jewelry, a locket, etc.)

Groom’s Details:

  • Suit or tuxedo
  • Tie or bowtie
  • Cufflinks
  • Watch
  • Shoes
  • Socks (if they have a fun or sentimental meaning!)
  • Boutonniere
  • Cologne
  • Wedding band
  • Vow book
  • Handwritten letters or notes
  • Any sentimental items (family heirlooms, tie clip, etc.)

Extra Details to Include:

  • Loose florals (ask your florist for extra stems or petals!)
  • Ribbon or fabric swatches that match your wedding colors (For my own wedding, I used a ribbon from a gift we got at our wedding shower!)
  • Ring box or ring dish/tray
  • Wax seal stamps or any custom stationery elements
  • Any decorative elements that reflect your theme (vintage keys, lace, etc.)

Pro Tip: Place everything in a small box or container before your wedding day, and hand it to your photographer when they arrive. That way, nothing gets forgotten, and you can relax knowing all your special details will be captured!

Detail shots are such a great way to preserve all the little elements that make your wedding unique. These photos tie together your entire gallery and help tell the full story of your day. So, gather up those special pieces, and let’s make some magic!
